Our Mission

The good news of the gospel, for all people

The mission of United Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, is for all people. We make it the ultimate goal of this congregation to bring the good news of the gospel to all.

I

Bring

Bring the good news of the gospel to all who will hear it.

II

Develop

Develop outreach programs to carry the word and message of our Savior Jesus Christ to all in search of Him.

III

Share

Freely give of our talents, our time, and — from an unselfish heart — the great news of hope and salvation we share as Christians.

We pray daily for God to give us the strength and guidance to live our lives in His service, and we look to the future with hope and commitment for continued growth, increased faith, and spiritual renewal with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Our History

More than 150 years of faith

1872

Immanuel Lutheran Church is established, built near 168th Street in Grand Haven Township, beside the cemetery. A parsonage and school soon follow, though the school does not last long.

1905

The congregation moves the church to Agnew, Michigan.

1912

A bronze bell is given to the congregation for the steeple, cast in St. Louis and inscribed “Ehre sei Gott in der Höhe” — Glory to God in the highest.

1952

The church is moved once more — this time to Lake Michigan Drive — to make room for the new four-lane US-31 highway.

1996

On July 14, Immanuel Lutheran Church and St. John’s Robinson Church merge into one congregation and take the name United Lutheran Church.

Today

United Lutheran Church is led by a dedicated team, with music from our pianist and Praise & Worship Team leading the congregation in hymns. Our 1912 steeple bell is still rung by hand — a church member pulls the rope to signal the start of each service.
